SFTN Announces Four Further Short Film Commissions

SFTN is delighted to announce that three projects have been commissioned through the Emerging Talent Shorts 2015 programme and an additional New Talent Short has been added to the Scottish Shorts 2015 slate:

Emerging Talent Shorts 2015:

Writer/Director: Ewan Morrison; Producer: Phoebe Grigor
  • TAKE THE SHOT (Thriller)
Writer/Director: Rodger Griffiths; Producer(s): Claire Mundell and Lee Brazier
Co-Writer/Director: David Cairns; Co-Writer: Alex Livingstone; Producer: David Jack

Scottish Shorts 2015:

Writer/Director: Raisah Ahmed; Producer: Karen O’Hare

Ewan Morrison, Writer/Director of drama NONE OF THE ABOVE, said:
“SFTN is an invaluable source of support, ideas and creative energy. I’m really excited they’re commissioning our short film – it’s a crucial first step towards making my first feature as a writer/director.”

Writer/Director of Comedy Horror THE NORTHLEACH HORROR, David Cairns said:
“SFTN’s Emerging Talent fund comes along at the perfect time in my career, when I can see how I might complete the journey from occasional ventures into film-making, to being a full-time professional. The ladder leading people from student films to industry engagement always seemed to be missing a few rungs before. People who have made a few shorts but still can’t make the leap to features may find they need extra help.”

Rodger Griffiths, Writer/Director of thriller TAKE THE SHOT, said:
“SFTN is a fantastic opportunity for our team to create a high quality short which will compliment the feature we have been developing. With their guidance, along with Northern Ireland Screens support, we are sure to achieve great things.”

All four films will soon go into pre-production and aim to deliver by Spring 2016.

All SFTN programmes are part of the Lottery-funded BFI NET.WORK a UK-wide initiative to discover and support the next generation of feature filmmaking talent, no matter where they live in the UK.
